++ UPDATE ++

Thank you for applying to George Spencer EBITT for our GTP programme. This year we have received an unprecedented amount of applications and therefore are unable to respond directly to unsuccessful candidates.

If you have not been invited for interview by the end of January 2012, this will mean that you have not been successful. However if you have submitted an application form after the 1 January 2012 these are currently being considered. If you have not been invited for interview by the end of May then this will mean that you have not been successful

Whilst we understand that you will be disappointed about not being offered a place, there are still ways to make sure that you can begin your teaching career in 2012. Many top universities and schools around the country offer excellent alternative routes into teaching, with opportunities for placements in your local area. Teacher training is currently offering big tax-free bursaries and scholarships for high quality graduates, especially in shortage subjects. With the loans and grants available, this can add up to an income similar to that offered by GTP after tax and national insurance. But there are no guarantees that these bursary rates will continue next year.

If you decide to apply for a mainstream place, and have not done so already, we recommend you do not delay as courses are currently filling at twice last year’s rate. Find out more about the options open to you at teach.gov.uk/routes or if you feel ready go straight to www.gttr.ac.uk to apply for other routes. Call the Teaching Information Line (TIL) on 0800 389 2500 if you’d like to talk through the options open to you.

If you have any questions please call Sue Richmond, GTP Administrator on 0115 9170189 or email srichmond@george-spencer.notts.sch.uk
